The exhibition is from 1 December until 8 March 2019.

The exhibition with the theme Earth to Sky aims to encourage an interest in and instill appreciation of science among the public.  This is the seventh exhibition since 2012, and the previous themes were FRUIT, INSECT, MICROBE, BIRD, BRAIN and LIGHT.

Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research and Innovation) UPM, Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Idrus said that organising the NYAWA exhibition enables UPM researchers to share their scientific research results with the society.

He also said that the exhibits could also be a source of reference to everyone including scientists and art activists in the country.

“The culture of cross knowledge portrayed in NYAWA exhibition is one of the efforts made to support life long learning and also as a platform for interaction between the university and society,” he said when officiating the exhibition here today.

He said that the collaboration between researchers and artists has produced creative products through the interesting, interactive and unique exhibited artifacts. The exhibits also contain knowledge which is disseminated through science and art.

According to the Deputy Vice Chancellor, this in line with The Ministry of Education’s aim to make STREAM (Science –Technology – Reading – Engineering – Arts –Mathematics) education a success at all levels.

He added that the teaching and learning methodology must be parallel to current advancement in technology as an enabler to offer the best approach. - UPM
